Skywarn Nets ... Who can activate the net ?

There have been some concerns about the Skywarn net not being activated during a few past weather events. In most cases of widespread severe weather we will be notified by NWS or ready for an activation; however, we all know that the weather can be unpredictable more times than not. During a severe weather event, if the Skywarn net has not been activated and you feel that the situation warrants, if the EC, assistant EC or normal net controllers are not available, by all means do so.

Don't wait on someone else ... you may be the only one available !

The purpose of Skywarn is to communicate severe weather conditions to NWS so radar and other data may be verified and warnings can be issued to the public.
